Join Barclays as a Cloud Platform Engineer, where you will play a key role in building and maintaining the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data.
In this position, you will design and support scalable data platforms. Including data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes, ensuring that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.

To be successful as a Cloud Platform Engineer, you should have experience with;
- AWS (networking/compute/storage), ECS/Kubernetes/OpenShift, CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation), and building highly available multi-AZ systems
- Databricks (Spark), Python/Spark development, large-scale data pipelines, and workflow orchestration (Airflow)
- SRE/DevOps practices, model deployment/monitoring, and considerable security/compliance (IAM, secrets management, PII protection)
Some other highly valued skills may include
- Exposure to data streaming and messaging systems such as Apache Kafka, and experience integrating streaming data pipelines with batch processing systems.
- Familiarity with deploying and managing microservices and web applications (Java backends, React frontends) on container platforms (ECS, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS), including basic administration, performance tuning, and data backup/recovery strategies.

Purpose of the role
To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure.
Accountabilities
- Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
- Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
- Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
- Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.
