Salary: £78,400 - £117,600 + car/car allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

As SSEN Transmission delivers a multi £bn portfolio of major infrastructure projects to enable low-carbon energy, strengthen the UK’s electricity network, and achieve Net Zero, we’ve established a new Project Services function to provide the governance, insight, and expertise that underpin successful delivery.
As Head of Planning & Scheduling, you’ll lead one of the core functions within this new team. You’ll shape, embed and lead our planning and scheduling capability across Development, Offshore Delivery and Onshore Delivery, ensuring our investment decisions and delivery strategies are informed by robust, risk-aware insight.
You’ll play a pivotal role in building and leading a high-performing team of Planning Managers and Engineers, driving the adoption of best-in-class planning standards, and providing assurance and clarity across one of the UK’s most ambitious energy infrastructure programmes.
You will
- Lead the integration of safety, health and environmental principles into all planning and scheduling activities, promoting a proactive and positive safety culture.
- Shape and deliver enterprise-wide planning and scheduling excellence, driving consistency, governance and performance insight across a £30bn portfolio.
- Champion risk-informed planning and dependency management, ensuring schedules are robust, realistic and aligned across internal teams and external partners.
- Build, develop and inspire a high-performing planning team, fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement across the Project Services function.
- Drive digital transformation of planning processes and tools, using innovation and data-led insights to enhance delivery performance and decision-making.
- Extensive experience leading enterprise-level planning and scheduling for multi-£bn infrastructure portfolios in a regulated environment.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Project Management with a recognised accreditation such as PMI or APM.
- Proven ability to develop and enforce planning strategies, governance frameworks and performance standards across complex programmes.
- Advanced expertise in Primavera P6 and integrated project controls, including risk, cost, resource and performance management.
- Strong leadership, analytical and assurance skills, with the confidence to challenge data, manage dependencies and drive delivery excellence.
