The Role
The post is for a Specialist Clinical Technologist within the Medical Physics Department based within University Hospital Hairmyres.
The service includes the installation, commissioning, calibration, performance assurance and repair of a wide range of specialist medical equipment. In addition, staff undertake duties in accordance with the quality system operated.
A demonstrable knowledge of electrical, electronic or engineering principles to carry out the servicing/repair/clinical support (assisting users in the operation of the medical equipment) on specialist medical equipment.
Knowledge of Electrical Safety or PAT Testing, IT/software and specialist test equipment with experience are desirable as are the following; practical experience on medical equipment, workplace practice and techniques including Health and Safety Regulations, working knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, professional and other guidelines and working within Quality management systems.
This post will also include driving to Health Centres etc. to perform the above duties.

- Expertise within specialty/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently.
- Comprehensive knowledge of guidelines and standards within the specialty/area of practice.
- Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the specialty/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within specialty/area of practice.
- Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
- Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of specialty including study days/courses/postgraduate qualification.
- The postholder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative.
- Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management skills
- Working knowledge of basic information technology.

This role will be based in Medical Physics within University Hospital Hairmyres.
The working pattern for this role Monday - Friday 08:45am - 17:00pm.
