This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. Please note that the pay scale in this advert will not be changing as a result.

The Department of Public Health and Health Policy aims to improve and protect the health of people in Lothian as part of a whole system approach to public health in Scotland.

The department is organised around Population Health and Health Protection. The postholders will work within a Population Health Team which involves place-based working focusing on partnership, prevention, and inequalities.

Reducing the harms from smoking is a key priority for Scotland as we work towards a smokefree nation over the next decade. NHS Lothian is seeking a dynamic individual to join the Quit Your Way team and helps us improve our performance supporting people to quit smoking.

Working with a range of partners to support engagement with the service is key to increasing our outcomes over the next few years. As well as direct service delivery with individuals and groups you will be able to demonstrate effective communication and influencing skills with the healthcare workforce and partner agencies to improve engagement with Quit Your Way services.

The role is within East and Midlothian Community setting and will involve the delivery of smoking cessation support, contributing to quality improvement across the service and delivering brief advice to stakeholders.

The hours for this post will be 0.87 WTE, currently 31.2 hours of a full time 37-hour post within Bonnyrigg.
