Position:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Visitor based at North Ayr Health Centre. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours:
22.30 hours per week.
From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence:
A Full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What you will do:
As a qualified Health Visitor, you will be an experienced caseload manager and expected to provide a high quality, culturally sensitive, safe person centred and effective health visiting service to infants, children and their families. You will demonstrate high level communication skills and be an effective collaborator with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for whole family wellbeing.
You will function as an independent, autonomous practitioner that reflects the SCPHN standards. You should have in-depth knowledge, expertise and experience in health visiting and GIRFEC principles, UNCRC and be skilled in assessment and identification of health needs using the National practice model Framework. You will be responsible and accountable for the ongoing management of your caseload to ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the universal health visiting pathway and additional programmes of care.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:
It is essential that you are currently a Registered Nurse with the NMC Specialist Public Health Nursing (SCPHN Health Visiting) qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development. You will be expected to undertake continuous professional development, caseload management & child protection supervision.
You will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership skills, be self-directed, and confident to provide highly specialised advice, assess child development , and support parents using Solihull approaches. You will also have experience of supporting parents where there are vulnerabilities, and concerns relating to child protection, domestic abuse, addictions, peri-natal mental ill health. You should have a flexible strengths based approach, be innovative with a strong commitment to delivering high quality care, and an ability to respond positively to change.
