An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NHS Highland Cancer Services as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT). This is a dynamic and rewarding role within an established, supportive and forward-thinking SACT team, delivering care across the Highlands of Scotland.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, effective and timely delivery of SACT, supporting patients throughout their cancer journey and contributing to ongoing service development within a complex and evolving healthcare environment.
As an ANP within the SACT service, you will:
Undertake advanced clinical assessment and decision-making for patients receiving SACT
Lead and deliver nurse-led SACT review clinics
Act as a SACT prescriber, safely prescribing systemic anti-cancer therapies, including chemotherapy, in line with competence and governance frameworks
Manage complex cancer-related issues using expert clinical judgement and evidence-based practice
Work collaboratively across acute and community settings as part of the multidisciplinary team
Contribute to service development, improvement and innovation, supporting sustainable cancer care delivery across NHS Highland
You will work as part of an experienced and established multidisciplinary SACT team, ensuring patients receive timely, safe and high-quality treatment
About You
We are looking for an experienced and motivated nurse who is:
A Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
Educated to Master’s level (or working towards) in Advanced Practice
A Non-Medical Prescriber with experience (or willingness to develop) in SACT prescribing
Experienced in oncology/haematology nursing and SACT delivery
Confident in autonomous practice, clinical decision-making and managing complex patient needs
Passionate about improving patient experience and contributing to service transformation
The Team & Service
You will join a well-established SACT service, working alongside advanced practitioners, specialist nurses, consultants and pharmacy colleagues. The service delivers SACT across multiple sites within NHS Highland, supporting equitable access to treatment across acute and remote settings.
