JOB TITLE: Senior Infrastructure Specialist
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site
About this opportunity
The Senior Infrastructure Specialist will hold accountability for design, architecture, implementation, maintenance, security and support of infrastructure resources! They will work without the need for supervision and own and direct the tasks of more junior Infra Specialists and Infra Engineers. They will focus on Platform or Lab level objectives and may manage a sub-set of their team’s technical products!
You’ll transform business requirements and specifications into detailed designs and explore the infrastructure delivery options, developing design ideas as you go.
Building in infrastructure specific requirements for delivery, for example Non-functional Requirements (NFR), infrastructure detail, volumetrics, and test environments you’ll bring the best solution to life.
Take the lead in all aspects of infrastructure change within the Lab/project goals throughout their lifecycle means you could be involved with infrastructure build activities or leading the resources supporting the project through the testing cycles and into the live environment.
You’d support Group Transformation to ensure all the Service Introduction Gateway work is produced by the various CIO supply lines and ensure a smooth handover to Business as Usual.
Finally you’ll support Disaster Recovery tests if applicable and lead resources to address infrastructure defects found over the Warranty Period
Creates and/or presents aspects of a planning system under the guidance of senior colleagues.
Takes responsibility for delivering a prescribed budget for own area of the organisation and/or conducts complex analyses on budget progress in other areas while working within established systems.
Acknowledges weaknesses, recommends improvements, and implements approved changes to current compliance processes, systems, and procedures within assigned area and/or subject area.
Writes and edits materials for a variety of target populations, tailoring the tone and content to match the needs and expectations of each audience.
Pursues and invests in personal development opportunities to grow own capabilities. Develops direct reports using the existing development framework. Offers specialised training or mentors others in their expertise throughout the organisation.
Identifies shortcomings and suggests improvements to existing business practices. Develops and delivers projects or workstreams within the organisation's transformation programme with mentorship from senior colleagues.
Delivers outcomes by managing others and working within established systems.
Delivers prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established knowledge management systems.

What you’ll need
We’d be looking for varying levels of experience across the following areas:
Exposure to multiple infrastructure technologies (Server, Storage, Network) in a Design and/or implementation role.
Experience of Public Cloud migration would be desirable.
Experience of end-to-end project delivery.
Systems Thinking or exposure to the methodology and working practices would set your application apart.
Whilst skills, knowledge and prior experience are meaningful to us we want people who are highly motivated, and enthusiastic with an inquisitive and curious approach to work.
And any experience of these would be really useful
Experienced in the design/architecture of infrastructure solutions in a large-scale enterprise environment, e.g. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Middleware, Storage, Network and Databases.
Skilled at producing quality concise design documentation, with an emphasis on decisions and diagrams necessary to mobilise delivery across private and public cloud.
Hands-On experience of end-to-end project delivery, working predominantly with Agile delivery models including modern software development and deployment practices.
Understanding of building applications through containerised microservices-based architectures, with a working understanding of cloud methodologies.
Experience in managing 3rd party partners.
Previous Banking/Finance industry experience would be very useful.
