There is 1 permanent Band 6 physio post available.
Midlothian Community Respiratory team treats COPD patients in the community, preventing admissions, treating acute exacerbations at home and optimising respiratory care in a holistic way. The team is multidisciplinary with support from Psychology and Dietetics. We accept referrals from GPs, hospital staff, SAS and community health care professionals.
We continue to develop our service, including work with Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland to increase referrals and community support, and early development of a clinic‑based option alongside home visits.
The Band 6 role particularly includes:
- Working with patients in a home and clinic setting to optimise the care and self management of patients with COPD
- Supervision of Band 5 Physiotherapists, assistant practitioners, clinical support workers and students
- Deputising for the team lead and APP staff where appropriate.
- Developing and participating in training programmes for the local CRT service and wider national training.
- Maintaining own CPD and TURAS in line with the 4 pillars of practice.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
