On 1 April 2026, NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) became one national organisation, focused on continuity today and a stronger, more connected service for tomorrow.
As part of this transformation, NSS and NES have joined to form a new organisation: Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). This new organisation will play a pivotal role in supporting the renewal and ensuring the long-term sustainability of health and care services across Scotland.
About the Organisation:
PSD Scotland unites expertise from NES and NSS in a way that will allow us to accelerate national programmes to support the NHS to deliver better care, now and in the future. We support staff with education and training, provide the tools and data that improve services, and run vital national functions such as procurement, logistics and blood, tissue and cell services.
The Post:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an NMC or HCPC registered practitioner to join the SNBTS Transfusion Team, supporting the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred transfusion practice within NHS Scotland.
The post holder will work closely with the Transfusion Practitioners, Hospital Transfusion Team (HTT) and multidisciplinary colleagues to enhance patient safety through the implementation, monitoring and long-term sustainability of the Infected Blood Inquiry (IBI) recommendations and Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT) Standards. The role supports the delivery of the HTT workplan addressing local operational requirements of education and training, audit, transfusion incident management, and the implementation of national and local transfusion policies.
We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication skills, the ability to work with limited supervision, and a flexible, proactive approach to promoting safe transfusion practice at local and national level.
The Candidate:
Applicants should be educated to degree level with significant post registration experience preferably in clinical transfusion. The post-holder will be required to work across their designated sites and Higher Education Institutes to support delivery of the role, and as such a valid driving licence is desirable. The post-holder will contribute to the promotion and delivery of safe and effective transfusion practice, maintain effective communication and collaborative working across NHS Scotland and support the wider functions and responsibilities of the SNBTS Transfusion Team model of service.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Location and Working Pattern:
The work pattern for all posts is Monday to Friday
The base and hours for each role are noted below:
- Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow - 36 hours per week
- Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Glasgow – 25.2 hours per week
- Hospital base (to be agreed) covering Gartnaval General Hospital, Glasgow and Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley and Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock and Vale of Leven District Hospital, Alexandria – 25.2 hours per week
- Dumfries and Galloway Royal Hospital, Dumfries – 7.2 hours per week
