The role
Join us within the Record to Report Centre of Excellence team on our journey to shape the future of finance as we focus on continuous improvement, technical expertise and innovation where we will have the opportunity to deploy modern technology in a way that we have not been able to do before.
This role is for an Assistant Accountant within our Energy Markets team. Your responsibilities will include contributing to month end general ledger close, performing key account reconciliations and variance analysis reporting. As part of the Centre of Excellence you will work collaboratively alongside other finance team members to drive best practices in reporting and processes across SSE Finance.
You will:
- Be involved in the month end process, through preparation of key journals and essential variance analysis commentary.
- Comply with Group financial control policies, including preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with key responsibilities for year end and half year processes, including preparation of reports to Group Finance and providing evidence to external auditors.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build key relationships.
- Seek opportunities to continuously improve processes to meet financial control requirements.
You will bring:
- A solid grounding in finance and qualified to HND level in accounting as a minimum.
- The ability to work well in a team environment and lead where required.
- Solid analytical skills with ability to research, understand and interrogate a wide range of issues.
- An understanding of core financial systems and general accounting procedures, coupled with flexibility, professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering quality work under pressure.
