Purpose of the role
To generate revenue and promote the bank's diverse product and service offerings to various customer segments.
Accountabilities
- Identification of potential customers, analysing their needs and preferences, and staying abreast of emerging market trends and competitor strategies.
- Creation of detailed profiles for target customer segments, outlining their demographics, financial habits, and pain points to tailor sales approaches and product recommendations.
- Relationship management of potential and existing customer relations through the execution of high-quality customer support, by responding to queries and resolving issues, gaining their customer trust, and understanding their financial goals and challenges.
- Understanding of the features, benefits, risks, and compliance requirements of various banking products and services offered. Understanding of the key features, benefits, risks, enhancements, and regulatory requirements of new and existing banking products, and communicate insights clearly to potential customers to address their financial needs.
- Development of compelling sales pitches and proposals that showcase the value proposition of the bank's offerings to convert leads into customers, and negotiation of terms that are beneficial for both the client and the bank.
- Collection and analysis of customer feedback on various products, services, and overall experience, to support the development of reports that communicate key findings to relevant stakeholders, to inform product development and sales strategies.
- Monitoring of lead conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, and other relevant metrics to assess sales performance and identify areas for improvement.

Join us as a Solutions Consultant within Barclaycard Payments on a 12 month secondment/ FTC where you will be responsible for leading the technical qualification, solution design and pre-sales engagement activities for complex payment acceptance opportunities across Gateway, Acquiring and Fraud solutions.
Acting as the technical authority throughout the sales lifecycle, the role partners with Coverage, Product, Professional Services and client technical teams to understand business and technical requirements, design scalable payment architectures, and validate solution fit. You will conduct detailed discovery sessions, produce solution designs, identify technical and commercial risks, and support customers through architectural decision-making. Ensuring opportunities are appropriately qualified and that proposed solutions are achievable, commercially viable and aligned to Barclaycard's strategic product capabilities.
The role combines technical consultancy, payments expertise and commercial awareness to accelerate solution adoption and drive successful customer outcomes
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience within Payments, FinTech, SaaS or Enterprise Technology environments.
- Technical pre-sales, solution consulting or solutions architecture experience
- An understanding of payment gateway architecture and transaction processing.
- Experience designing API-based solutions and integrations.
- Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, authentication frameworks, POS providers and ISV’s.
- Experience producing solution architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of ecommerce platforms such as Adobe Commerce, Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce or WooCommerce.
- Understanding of payment ecosystem participants including: Acquirers, Issuers, Processors, Payment Schemes, PSPs and Fraud Providers.
- Expertise in conducting: Business discovery, Technical discovery, Architecture workshops, Gap analysis, Solution fit assessments and Commercial qualification.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ability to identify delivery, operational and compliance risks early in the sales cycle.
Desirable skills include:
- Knowledge of Barclays product solutions
- Experience in the Business to Business Financial Services Sector
- Previous experience in a data analytics role or data consultancy role
- An understanding of how consumer spending behaviours can support client growth strategy.
- An awareness of how consumer spend is changing in the current economic landscape.
This role can be based out of Northampton, London, Birmingham or Glasgow and is a 12 month secondment/ FTC.

Barclays’ payments acceptance business provides critical infrastructure to the UK economy, processing billions of pounds of payments annually for both small businesses and domestic and international corporate clients.

Barclays and Brookfield will work to create a standalone entity over time, continuing to use the Barclaycard Payments (BPL) brand and acting as the sole payments acceptance services provider to Barclays’ clients for a minimum of ten years.
