The role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an HR Case Manager/Coach within HR working in a fast-paced diverse organisation. You’ll provide real-time coaching, guidance and procedural support to line managers across all aspects of people management. You’ll help managers build confidence, make sound decisions and have the right conversations with colleagues, while ensuring people matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with SSE policy, procedure and employment law. You will work collaboratively with HR colleagues, Ask HR, and wider business stakeholders to share learning and improve the manager experience.
You will
- Guide and coach line managers through people management matters, using strong knowledge of HR policy, procedure and employment law.
- Provide expert procedural advice and support for formal employee relations case management.
- Bring curiosity, judgement and organisational context to each intervention, helping managers identify practical and proportionate next steps.
- Influence managers to retain ownership of people matters while providing the right level of support, challenge and escalation where needed.
- Identify themes, trends or capability gaps through manager interactions and recommend improvements through policy, guidance or training interventions.
You have
- HR experience in a case management, advisory or generalist environment, ideally with a HR qualification (or working towards one would be advantageous).
- Experience advising, coaching and influencing line managers through people-related issues and formal casework.
- Confidence working with stakeholders at different levels, including the ability to challenge appropriately and support effective decision-making.
- You will ideally have an understanding of trade union relations and collective agreements, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
- Strong judgement, resilience and ownership, with a commitment to excellent customer service.
- A strong working knowledge of HR policies, procedures and employment law, with the ability to apply these pragmatically in a business context. Experience using HR systems, such as Harmony, would also be beneficial.
