Due to staff progression, we are delighted to offer two exciting band 6 opportunities for motivated and compassionate Occupational Therapists to join our friendly Medicine and Frailty Team.
Band 6 Frailty Specialist Post
As a Frailty Specialist, you will be a key member of the Acute Frailty Pathway, using your specialist skills to work alongside discharge without delay principles to guide early decision making, prevent unnecessary admissions, and support safe, timely discharge. You will have a key role in developing the OT frailty service within A&E and front door frailty admissions unit, providing rapid, holistic assessment and early intervention for individuals living with frailty as they arrive in the acute setting.
You will work closely with the Medicine for the Elderly Rehabilitation Team, Frailty at Home and Community Rehabilitation Teams, ensuring smooth transitions from hospital to home and continuity of care across the frailty pathway. This role allows you to influence care far beyond the hospital walls, contributing to a truly integrated frailty model across NHS Tayside.
Band 6 Medicine Specialist Post
As a Medicine Specialist OT, you will work within the wider acute medical service, supporting patients with a broad range of complex medical, functional, and cognitive needs. A key part of this role involves working with patients to rebuild function and regain independence following prolonged or complex admissions.
You will also work alongside the teams Medical Major Trauma Rehabilitation Co‑ordinator, ensuring patients with significant trauma related needs receive timely, coordinated, and specialist rehabilitation input, including patients stepped down from ICU settings. As well as developing the Medical Occupational Therapy role within the Acute Medical Unit and A&E.
In addition, you will contribute to service development for under‑65 rehabilitation and younger frail patients, helping shape responsive, modern pathways that meet the needs of adults who may not fit traditional frailty or older adult models. This is an exciting opportunity to influence emerging services and support a diverse patient group with complex rehabilitation needs.

We are looking for HCPC registered Occupational Therapists with experience in acute care, frailty, medicine for the elderly, rehabilitation, or related areas. Whether you are an experienced Band 5 ready to progress or a current Band 6 seeking to specialise further, we would be delighted to welcome you into our team.
Allied Health Professions are currently moving to 7 day working and this post will require weekend working in line with the evidence base and the strategic direction of NHS Tayside. This is for improved patient outcomes and to maximise a person-centred equitable approach to care. All new contracts for AHP staff will be for a 7 days service/rota to enable the service to be ready to move to a safe and effective 7 day service.
