The Role
To maintain a range of buildings services, plant and equipment, which can sometimes be complex and non-routine by diagnosing and repairing faults as they occur.
Maintain NHSL’s mechanical, electrical plumbing, associated building services plant and building fabric assets to a high standard.
This will include the planning and prioritising on a day-to day basis of their workload and material management requirements to include documentation, completion and sign off.
In this key role, you will:
The post holder will provide technical expertise when required including operating and maintaining safe and efficient systems of work for all building services.
Diagnose, report and repair defects in engineering, electrical and building services to ensure statutory compliances are adhered to and maintained such as water management, low voltage and pressure/water system/heating ventilation and air condition systems.
Understand the working of building services and engineering systems in NHS buildings.
Undertake minor alterations and modifications to existing building systems and services in accordance with appropriate protocols and procedures. E.g. Safety valve going in a boiler – the post holder would have the required skills and training to assess the situation using their own initiative, act in an appropriate safe manner.
What You'll Bring:
- Completion of apprenticeship in Mechanical or Electrical Bias plus an HNC or equivalent, with additional non-core training qualification at SVQ level or equivalent.
- Experience of working in an estates service environment.
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of current statutory legislative requirements.
- Experience of inspecting and planning working in relation to PPM and Reactives.
- Postholders are also required to develop additional skills through training provided in other specialist areas e.g. Complex Air Conditioning systems as evidenced throughout the Job description. Such systems require additional theoretical knowledge in order to understand their function and complexity.
- Multiple additional courses are evidenced via training records that current Postholders have been required to undertake and maintain to ensure legislative compliance and can be made available upon request.
