The role:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced pharmacist to join the dynamic medical team at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH). You will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and provide person-centred pharmaceutical care to a wide range of medical patients with often complex needs.
The QEUH is one of the largest acute hospitals in the UK and has an excellent team of friendly pharmacy staff committed to the modernisation of services.
Time dependent, but there will be the opportunity to gain experience in a range of specialities, including Endocrinology, Infectious Diseases, Gastroenterology, Rheumatology and Cardiology, along with working in our busy, high-turnover Medical Receiving unit and spending some time in Medical High Dependency and Coronary Care
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- This is a secondment post for 6 months, working 21.6 hours per week.
- Working pattern can be discussed at the interview as there is flexibility
- This post will be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Please note the salary is pro-rata for part-time posts.
Key responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced pharmacist to join our team, providing a high-quality, patient-centred pharmaceutical service within a defined clinical area.
The postholder will deliver specialist pharmaceutical care, ensuring the safe, appropriate, and cost-effective use of medicines in line with current legislation, as well as local and national policies and guidelines. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes and provide expert professional advice.
A key aspect of the role will involve the supervision, support, and training of pharmacy staff, including MSc/Diploma students and those undertaking the Vocational Training Programme Foundation Framework. You will play an active role in developing the knowledge and skills of the wider pharmacy workforce.
In addition, you will provide a specialised clinical pharmacy service to a defined patient population or clinical specialty, as agreed with the Lead Pharmacist, contributing to service development and continuous improvement.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
- You should have a Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- You should have completed or be currently undertaking the NES Foundation Level Training or equivalent.
- You should have or be working towards a prescribing qualification.
