The role:
The Community Staff Nurse will deliver an accessible, culturally sensitive, high‑quality nursing service to individuals and families across all age groups within the community. Working in partnership with service users, carers, multidisciplinary teams and external agencies, the post‑holder will contribute to promoting health, preventing illness, and supporting people to manage long‑term and complex conditions in their own homes.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Location based in Castlemilk Health Centre
- Fixed-Term Contract for 12 months
- Full-time position (37 hours per week)
- Shift pattern for this post are 4 days over 7 to include backshift one per week (9 hour shift pattern) and one weekend per month
Key responsibilities:
- The post holder will be responsible for the utilisation of various clinical and environmental risk assessment tools in order to identify actual and potential risks and ensure implementation of appropriate interventions.
- The post holder will be responsible for reporting and participating in the critical appraisal of incidents to reduce any recurrences and participate in further investigation as required.
- As a member of the district nursing team the post holder will be able to support patients, families and carers in order to achieve optimum health and independence.
- Plan and prioritise workload as required, delegate work using available resources and make decisions to ensure that patients’ needs are being met.
- Work within systems to ensure continuation of a quality 24-hour nursing service
- The post holder may be required to provide care of patients within a Treatment Room or Health Centre setting
- The post holder will use a systematic, flexible and innovative approach to problem-solving where there is either barrier to understanding or financial constraints within the patient’s home, in order to provide a safe and effective care package.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential:
- Part 1 NMC Registration,
- or 2nd Level Registration with General Nursing Experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Evidence of Revalidation
- IT skills-word processing/email/internet
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Leadership skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
