The Team
The Database Hosting Team, part ofAladdin Platform Engineering, supports the stability, performance, and availability of BlackRock’s core financial systems worldwide.
You’ll work on mission‑critical database platforms, helping to automate, scale, and modernise enterprise systems across on‑prem and cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Support and engineer enterprise database platforms (OLTP, OLAP, data warehousing, NoSQL)
- Help maintain 24x7 availability of global investment systems
- Build and enhance automation using Python and modern DevOps tooling
- Leverage AI/LLM tools (e.g. Copilot, Windsurf) to improve monitoring and operations
- Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and business teams globally
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field (preferred)
- 2+ years’ experience in database administration or engineering
- Exposure to one or more of:
- Databases: Sybase ASE/IQ, SQL Server, Snowflake, Cassandra, Cosmos DB
- Cloud: Azure, AWS, GCP
- Automation/DevOps: Python, Java, Go, Ansible, Git, Azure DevOps
- Strong problem‑solving skills, curiosity, and a passion for automation

Our hybrid work model
BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
