NHS Fife Internal Applicants only - You must be currently employed by NHS Fife to be eligible to apply for this post
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic charge nurse (band 6) to join our dedicated Gynaecology inpatient team at the Victoria hospital, Kirkcaldy.
This role offers the chance to work within a supportive and dynamic team, providing high-quality care to women within our evolving gynaecology service. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior charge nurse and senior nursing team, helping to support the delivery of safe, effective and compassionate patient care.
We are looking for an individual who demonstrates excellent communication skills, strong leadership potential and a passion for women’s health. You will be confident working both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team within NHS Fife.
The successful candidate will have a genuine interest in caring for patients with a range of gynaecological conditions and will ideally demonstrate knowledge or experience in areas such as
• The five major gynaecological cancers
• Colposcopy services
• Termination of pregnancy (TOP) services
• Early pregnancy care (EPC)
• Gynaecology triage service
In this role, you will support the senior charge nurse in the day-to-day management of the ward, contributing to the delivery of high standards of clinical care within the inpatients setting. You will also play an active role in staff development, including education and training, clinical governance activities, and supporting students and junior staff through mentorship and leadership.
The post may involve rotational shifts to meet the needs of the service, and there is an expectation that the successful candidate will undertake the duty charge nurse role within planned care when required.
Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) and leadership skills is essential. Previous experience within a gynaecology service would be desirable.
If you are passionate about delivering outstanding care and would like to be part of a forward-thinking and supportive team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

As part of the pre-employment checks for a preferred candidate, NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. To find out more about these routes of permission, please refer to the GOV.UK website here.
For specific types of post, if you do not have the necessary eligibility to work in the UK, it might be possible (though not guaranteed) to secure sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa. However, this is only possible if the employer is a licenced Sponsor, and if the post does not fall below the current minimum salary threshold or ‘going rate’. Further information on these criteria can be found here.
It is ESSENTIAL that you have checked that you either already have an appropriate right to work in the UK or that the post would be eligible to be sponsored BEFORE submitting your application form.
