The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist become a member of the dynamic and developing psychology-led Maternity & Neonatal Psychological Interventions Service (MNPI) based at University Hospital Wishaw. The MNPI service provides assessment, treatment and care to women, birthing people and their partners, presenting with mild to moderate distress associated with a complex pregnancy or birth experience across both maternity (antenatal and postnatal) and neonatal specialities on an in-patient and out-patient basis across NHS Lanarkshire.
The MNPI service is composed of Psychologists, a Clinical associate in applied psychology, a mental health practitioner and Specialist Midwives. The service continues to grow and provides exciting ongoing service developments.
We are seeking an individual that shares the core NHS values and values that are important to the MNPI service– being respectful, kind, curious, collaborative, efficient, forward thinking and trauma informed.
This is a permanent post 0.9wte. There will be some hybrid working and some clinics are undertaken at different locations across NHSL.
In this key role, you will:
Provide a highly specialised psychological assessment and treatment service to MNPI service exercising autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of patients. This may include provision of legal reports and/or expert witness testimonies as required by courts, and cognitive/neuropsychological assessment.
Be aware of relevant legislation and to make appropriate decisions, for example, in cases of suspected child abuse or neglect. This will involve carrying out appropriate risk assessment to self and others.
Provide core specialist clinical placements and clinical supervision to trainee clinical psychologists from the West and East of Scotland Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Courses, the M.Sc. Courses in Primary Care (Adults) at Stirling/Dundee Universities and other trainees as appropriate, ensuring that they meet the level of clinical competency required by the relevant courses
