Your mission
The General Manager Fleet is responsible for delivering a first-class service to our clients by overseeing the safe, compliant and efficient technical and operational performance of the assigned fleet of vessels, in line with charter party obligations and company standards.
This is a leadership role within UOS and the holder has the authority and support to make the changes necessary with the vessel management teams to create an environment for success.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain the highest safety, environmental and operational standards across the fleet.
- Holistic management of the assigned fleet ensuring performance and revenue from each of the vessels is maximised.
- Deliver optimal fleet performance with minimal downtime.
- Demonstrates active safety leadership promoting safe operations across the fleet and the wider business.
- Operational, cost, management and technical efficiencies across the fleet, as well as with other fleets under management, to be maximised.
- Leadership and direction of the Technical Superintendents.
- Collaborate and coordinate with all departments and support functions to ensure vessels are adequately supported.
- Responsible and accountable for the financial performance against budget of the assigned vessels.
- Maintain a high level of effective communication and engagement inter-departmentally, across the wider business and across the entire fleet.
- Responsible for the detailed financial management of assigned vessels ensuring the development of accurate OPEX and CAPEX budgets in line with agreed schedules and regular accurate forecasting against the same.
- Monitor the vessel KPIs and performance data, drive accountability for continuous improvement.
- Ensure and verify that audit and inspection findings and defects are closed out in a timely manner so as not to impact on service delivery and vessel performance.
- Undertake proactive strategic planning in conjunction with the Chartering department to ensure maintenance requirements are completed with minimal commercial disruption.
- Represent UOS internally and externally, developing and maintaining beneficial relationships within internal and external customers, customer, suppliers and government agencies.
- Act as ERTL and participate in drills and scenarios as required.
Your profile
- Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Nautical Science, MBA.
- Seagoing experience in a senior position on offshore support vessels.
- Extensive and demonstrable shore based technical / fleet management experience.
- Excellent financial management stills and proven ability to manage budgets.
- In depth knowledge of maritime regulatory frameworks.
- Culturally aware and experience of working and supporting operations in different global regions.
- Strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills with experience in managing a diverse team.
- Ability to prioritise and manage time effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Fluent in English. German is a big plus.
