The role:
Due to maternity leave, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Pharmacist to join the Dermatology Team on a fixed-term basis. The post focuses on providing expert clinical pharmacy support to dermatology services across NHSGGC, particularly in the management of high-risk and high-cost medicines, including biologics, JAK inhibitors, and immunosuppressants.
The successful candidate will work directly with patients in pharmacist-led clinics, managing their own caseload of patients with inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, acne, and eczema. The role offers opportunities to develop consultation, prescribing, and service development skills while working closely with the multidisciplinary team.
All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Fixed-term, Part-time 18 hours per week

Key responsibilities:
- Provide expert clinical pharmacy support to the dermatology service across NHSGGC.
- Participate in pharmacist-run clinics for patients with inflammatory skin conditions.
- Manage an independent patient caseload.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Provide specialist advice to patients and staff on biologic and immunosuppressant medicines.
- Manage homecare prescribing arrangements.
- Monitor and support the development of prescribing protocols for existing and newly introduced high-cost medicines.
- Contribute to audit activities, data collection, and research within the dermatology speciality.
- Support the delivery of patient-centred pharmaceutical care and cost-effective prescribing strategies.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential requirements:
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Completion of NES Foundation Level Vocational Training or equivalent experience.
- Registered Independent Pharmacist Prescriber (IP) qualification.
- Excellent communication, time management, and multidisciplinary team-working skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain expertise in specialist dermatology medicines.
Desirable:
- Experience in dermatology is welcomed but not essential.

- The successful candidate should demonstrate the attitude and aptitude to develop specialist dermatology competencies promptly.
